A 14 day trip is being planned to see how local villages live without running water and electricity and to appreciate the natural beauty of this area. We plan to visit small islands which were the refuge of head-hunters last century, a war plane wreck plus see local wood carvers at work. Full details will available soon.
Dr Annie Ross hopes to organize a visit to Peel island in Moreton Bay to show members the island’s lazaret – leprosy facility which opened in 1907 and closed in 1959. Annie will explain the Conservation Plan to manage and protect the historic building and trees. A summary of the lazaret’s history can be seen in THECA News, Nov, 2014). Check the Events Calendar to book your place on this fascinating trip back into history.
